We choose projects that bring education to the poor and disadvantaged, help create a safer teaching environment and provide the necessary tools and resources to support learning. When appropriate, we will partner with other charities and local resources to ensure maximum benefit.

CURRENT PROJECTS

The Martin Reach is working with CAFOD to support Syrian and Jordanian children living in Jordan who are at the most risk of missing out on valuable education. Lebanon and Jordan host the highest number of refugees per capita in the world. Many of these refugees live in makeshift camps, derelict buildings, or even in the open air. Children are often traumatised after seeing their family members and friends killed or their homes destroyed in front of them. Access to education is severely limited. For children with disabilities and learning difficulties this challenge is all the greater. That is why we are supporting our partner Caritas Jordan’s inclusive education programme.

On 14–15 March 2019, Cyclone Idai tore through Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Malawi, devastating towns and villages. The Martin Reach is working with CAFOD to help vulnerable communities with life-saving food, clean water, and hygiene kits. Among other projects, The Martin Reach is helping the rehabilitation of the affected schools in Mozambique.

A recent project is in support of the Sisters of Mercy, Addo, Eastern Cape, South Africa. The Sisters support people who endure consequences of HIV/Aids, seasonal workers who live with a high level of unemployment, and children and parents in the local areas.
